Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using ChefMate ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and ChefMate regarding your use of the App and any related services.

Use of the App

ChefMate is a personal recipe discovery and meal planning application. You agree to use the App only for its intended, lawful purposes. You must not:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the App
• Use the App to transmit harmful, offensive, or unlawful content
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the App or its backend services
• Redistribute, resell, or sublicense the App or its content
• Use automated tools to scrape or extract data from the App

AI-Generated Recipes & Suggestions

ChefMate uses artificial intelligence (Google Gemini) to generate recipe suggestions, meal plans, and culinary recommendations. You acknowledge that:

• AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies, errors, or impractical suggestions
• Recipes and nutritional information should not be treated as professional dietary or medical advice
• You are solely responsible for evaluating the suitability of any recipe for your dietary needs, allergies, or health conditions
• ChefMate does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or safety of AI-generated content

Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by their own terms and privacy policies:

• TheMealDB - Recipe database and meal imagery
• Google Gemini API - AI-powered recipe generation and mood-based search
• Cloudinary - Image hosting and delivery

ChefMate is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content provided by these third-party services.

Data & Privacy

ChefMate stores user preferences, favourites, and meal plans locally on your device using Capacitor Preferences. We do not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data to third parties.

Search queries entered in the AI Mood Search feature are sent to the Google Gemini API to generate responses. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for details on how this data is handled.

Intellectual Property

All original content, design, branding, and code within ChefMate is owned by its developers. Recipe images provided by TheMealDB remain the property of their respective copyright holders.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes only.

Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law:

• ChefMate does not warrant that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted
• ChefMate is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App
• ChefMate is not responsible for decisions made based on AI-generated recipe or nutritional content

Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent update.
